Jack Feldman

Jack worked at the LA Department of Water and Power for over 35 years where he retired in 2006 as Senior Manager in charge of the Power Engineering Organization. Over the last 12 years Jack was responsible for putting together the W&PA website and virtual museum. The museum is the largest of its kind, consisting of over 20,000 images, including background information related to the history of Los Angeles and Southern California.

Beth Ahlers speaks on the topic of “homeschooling” and family life after nearing the end of 25 years of home education and raising 6 children. Michelle Kuei

Michelle Kuei is a certified confidence coach who helps woman entrepreneurs who struggles with the confidence and courage to tell their unique story to get seen, get heard, and get hired. She is the author of a memoir “Perfectly Normal-an immigrant’s story of making it in America”; an inspirational journey of overcoming adversity after an automobile accident that changed her life trajectory. Michelle was born in Taiwan and grew up in New York, but today she lives in Los Angeles. Michelle enjoys a nice cup of coffee and meaningful conversations with friends. Her favorite food is Hawaiian pizza.

Terry Tornek

Terry Tornek was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He attended the Yeshivah of Flatbush and Erasmus Hall High School where he met his future wife, Maria Mascoli and served as President of the New York City Student Council. After marrying and serving in the US Army National Guard (Airborne) Terry worked for the US Dept. of Housing and Urban Development and then earned a Masters of Science in Urban Planning from Columbia University’s School of Architecture while Maria was a public school teacher on the Lower East Side. In 1982 the family moved to Pasadena where Terry accepted the position of Planning Director. He was hired because of his history of neighborhood improvement and historic preservation. Terry served for 3 years and helped to establish the redevelopment plan for Old Pasadena. He was elected to represent District 7 on the City Council in April, 2009, was reelected in 2013 and was then elected as Mayor in April, 2015 serving until December, 2020.

Huod Taing is an entrepreneur and a family man of Asian ancestry. His childhood was always full of change due to his family moving homes every few years in pursuit of work. After years of sacrifice they finally achieved the American dream in the San Gabriel Valley. With a passion for creating and curiosity for new things he has been involved in numerous restaurant creations. His latest one being “Tony’s Donut House” in the city of Baldwin Park. Ada Gates

Ada Gates Patton became the first woman in the United States and Canada licensed to shoe Thoroughbred racehorses. In her youth in New York and Long Island, Ada competed in show jumping and fox hunting for 20 years. After universities, Ada owned a ranch in Colorado and started shoeing Western horses on ranches and racetracks. Ada moved to Southern California to work on Thoroughbreds at Santa Anita, Hollywood Park, and Del Mar where she achieved Journeyman status. She maintained an active full time shoeing career for over 36 years. Ada owns and operates Harry Patton Horseshoeing Supplies in Monrovia, CA. She is the widow of Harry Patton, her mentor.
