David Lozano

David Lozano has a remarkable background, both professionally and personally, spanning over four decades. His career started as a Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff and a Reserve Police Officer for the City of Monterey Park – a law enforcement officer – but not just any law enforcement officer. Lozano was an extremely seasoned, highly experienced, well trained deputy sheriff and police officer.
He is currently an accomplished and well-recognized attorney in State and Federal Court that specializes not only in business and personal finance, but is known to be an aggressive and skillful negotiator as well, advising and instructing other attorneys and law firms throughout the country. Lozano has owned, managed, and operated his own law firm and several other law firms as a senior law partner for over 28 years with numerous office locations, sometimes employing over a hundred staff and legal personnel.

Dr. Jason Han is the co-founder of HealthFit Physical Therapy & Chiropractic and the Head of Rehabilitation for the Los Angeles Football Club. In 2016, Dr. Jason and his wife Dr. Kelli opened up HealthFit Physical Therapy & Chiropractic in Pasadena with the ultimate goal of creating a one-stop wellness shop for the people in his community. Shahan Der Ohannesian

Shahan Der Ohannesian was born and grew up in Lebanon, moving from city to city trying to avoid the wars as much as possible. When he was 16 his mother decided that it was time for him to join his siblings in the Untied States. Staying with his sister and brother-in-law Shahan learned how to make his dream a goal and how to pursue that goal. Starting from a dishwasher going to busboy, server, and then as a cook for other restaurants, Shahan eventually opened his own. At 29 years old Shahan opened Lee’s Hoagie House in Pasadena which has been going strong for more than 25 years. Shahan is looking forward to passing on the family business to his oldest son. Over the years Lee’s Hoagie House has become a staple in the Pasadena community, even building lifetime relations with almost half their customers.

Paul LeDoux – Part 1

Paul was born in Taos, New Mexico, and lived in Eastern Europe for two years from the age of 9. His family then moved to Dubrovnik, Croatia for a year and a half. When Paul was 19 he moved to Los Angeles with the dream of becoming an actor. He later left acting to become a youth soccer coach. At 30 years old he started his own business teaching children. Paul continues to work with children between the ages of 2 and 16. Recently he wrote and self published a children’s book. Paul has also started a non-profit organization for underprivileged children.

Tawnya Nguyen

Tawnya’s love for movement started when she was dancing at the age of 7 with focuses in ballet, contemporary, and various choreography styles. From there, she was always seeking different ways to explore movement athletically and artistically. What gravitated her towards fitness was the ability to unlock the human potential by utilizing numerous schools of thoughts through the medium of science. Fitness not only rehabilitated Tawnya’s chronic injuries, but it has elevated her day to day and athletic performance. These experiences have shaped her into the coach that she is today and she hopes to be able to share that passion and knowledge with others to help them in their personal journey.

Larry Wilson

Larry Wilson is public editor of the Pasadena Star-News, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune and the Whittier Daily News. He is on the editorial board of the parent Southern California News Group, 11 papers throughout the Southland, including the Orange County Register, the Riverside Press Enterprise, the Long Beach Press Telegram and the L.A. Daily News. For 12 years he was editor of the Star-News, where he has now worked for 33 years. Prior to overseeing the news side, he was the paper’s editorial page editor. He was on the founding business team at the Pasadena Weekly in 1984, and then was a reporter and assistant editor there.

Joaquin Lim

From 1995-2012, Mr. Lim served as the mayor and council-member for the city of Walnut, California. During his tenure on the council, he also served two terms as the president of the Chinese American Elected Officials (CEO) in Southern California. He was a delegate to the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) and he sat on the board of directors of several government and private agencies. His community achievement earned him the honor of being featured in a 2002 book entitled “Distinguished Asian American Political and Governmental Leaders”. Prior to becoming the President of AIEF (American International Education Foundation), Mr. Lim served as the executive director of California Institute of Public Administration (CIPA) from 2004 to 2013. He is currently an adjunct faculty member at California State University in Long Beach.

Marianne Cintron

Dr. Cintron has seen dyslexic children learn to read in only 6 weeks. She developed a music app and reading program that really work. She brings peace to your home by turning it from a battlefield into a playground teaching your children read so that they can achieve their full potentials. Education is Dr. Cintron’s third career, spring boarded from subbing in her children’s preschool to being a substitute teacher in a mental health hospital. She never dreamed of earning 5 degrees with a call to expose that “Dyslexia is a Trait of Genius!” She’s been an educator for 22 years and a classroom teacher for 10. She earned a Doctorate Degree and two Masters Degrees. She is an international teacher and speaker. She is the author of A Message of Hope, Dyslexia – A Trait of Genius, and Prisms of Brilliance. She also is an author of a new series of Children’s books.

Jennifer Tang

Jennifer Tang’s parents are survivors of the Cambodian genocide. Growing up with those stories Jennifer had a lot of questions about how societies and government could fall apart like that. She always asked those questions, and she never found satisfactory answers. But that curiosity is what led her to start getting involved in public service. Jennifer has been a teacher for five years, and she has worked in education for 10 years. During her recent campaign a lot of people could easily say “Oh, as a teacher she may not have experience in finance and things like that.” However Jennifer has also worked at startups for four years and helped build the companies from the ground up.

Bryan Chau

Bryan Chau was born and raised in the San Gabriel Valley and was part of AYC programs as a youth. Growing up as an economically disadvantaged minority in a combative environment, he was met various challenges, but through AYC’s Youth Development programs, those challenges became lessons and pillars by which he lives his life now. These pillars have led Bryan to graduating from Gabrielino High School with numerous extracurricular accolades and graduating from Cal State Long Beach with dual degrees in Finance and Human Resources. With a strong gratitude to AYC for developing him during adolescence and a devoted passion for helping youth, he has come full circle in joining the AYC’s Board of Directors in 2016.
