About Mount Lowe Preservation Society Inc.
The Mount Lowe Preservation Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to safeguarding the legacy of the Mount Lowe Railway. This historic mountain railroad operated in the San Gabriel Mountains of Southern California from 1893 to 1938.
The Society was formed in 1993 by a group of individuals passionate about preserving the iconic landmark & its cultural significance.
Since its establishment, the Mount Lowe Preservation Society has put in significant hours to preserve, & restore the Mount Lowe Railway as well as to spread knowledge and understanding of its unique heritage.
The group is dedicated to preserving the remaining railroad-related artifacts, buildings, & trails, as well as to providing opportunities for the general public to experience and learn about this significant period in California’s history.
With the help of committed volunteers and supporters, the group has successfully restored the historic Mount Lowe Railway Trail, which is now a popular hiking destination in the San Gabriel Mountains.
