The owner of the Locomotive company, George Whitcomb, named the city of Glendora for his wife, Leadora, and the location of his home in a glen. Hence, Glendora was named.

Whitcomb continued to develop the area by building railways to and from the tops of the mountains and made the Pacific Electric Railway.
