About The Bone Kettle

Since 2017, Bone Kettle has been a small family restaurant located at 67 North Raymond Ave., Pasadena, CA 91103, in the heart of Old Town Pasadena’s historic Superior Building.

Growing up in the San Gabriel Valley, the owners of Bone Kettle felt that they couldn’t find Southeast Asian businesses that highlighted Indonesian, Filipino & Malaysian food and flavors.

This led Chef Erwin Tjahyadi, known for his culinary innovations in Asian Fusion and bold flavors, and his brother and father to create Bone Kettle.

Their mission is to re-think what Southeast Asian cuisine is supposed to be—a re-claiming of the past and a reinterpretation of beloved dishes for the new generation.

They are open daily for dinners from 4:30 pm – 9:30 pm.

Weekend brunch is on Saturdays & Sundays from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Reservations are highly recommended.

Highlights

Bone Kettle serves dishes inspired by cuisines from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines. They specialize in unique small plates, delicious shareable entrees centered around traditional Southeast Asian Bone Broth, and artisan sake, wine, and beers.

Their vibe is wonderful!

Indonesian Small Plates Are the Star of Pasadena’s Bone Kettle

This week, Besha Rodell ventures to Pasadena for a review of Bone Kettle, the latest venture from Erwin Tjahyadi of Komodo fame. Starting the critique with a playful nod, Rodell notes the divisive nature of the bone broth trend, comparing it humorously to the artisan toast craze of yesteryears. Describing bone broth as both too basic and overly affected, the review sets a tone of skepticism towards this culinary phenomenon.
