About Pasadena Symphony and Pops

The Pasadena Symphony and POPS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded in 1928 committed to delivering high-quality musical performances, from orchestral to solo recitals by world-renowned artists. Their mission extends to providing broad access to youth education programs and the performing arts through community engagement and digital innovation. With an unwavering pursuit of excellence and inclusion, they curate classical, popular, and new music, believing in music’s power to enrich and transform individuals and communities.

Over nine decades, the organization has evolved into a top-tier symphonic ensemble in southern California, showcasing highly skilled musicians from the film industry. They perform at prestigious venues like the Ambassador Auditorium and the lush Los Angeles Arboretum & Botanic Garden. Principal Pops Conductor Michael Feinstein, a multi-platinum-selling, Emmy, and Grammy-nominated entertainer, succeeded Marvin Hamlisch.

A cornerstone of their education efforts is the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestras, serving over 350 talented students from more than 50 schools in Southern California. The PYSO Symphony tours and makes guest appearances, including on the TV show GLEE.

In 2007, the Pasadena Symphony merged with the Pasadena POPS, expanding its offerings to include classical and POPS concerts throughout the year. This merger enables them to provide a diverse range of live symphonic experiences at historic venues, including the Ambassador Auditorium and the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden.
