The Pasadena Museum of History is a prominent repository of historical artifacts and compelling art collections, encapsulating the essence of the west San Gabriel Valley’s history from 1834 to the present day. Its extensive collection includes a wide array of artifacts like textiles, ceramics, furnishings, and three-dimensional materials, alongside an esteemed art collection featuring works by renowned painters such as Carl Oscar Borg, Richard E. Miller and Benjamin Chambers Brown.

Boasting the largest and most comprehensive collection dedicated to the history of the west San Gabriel Valley, the museum offers an immersive journey into the artistic heritage of the region.

Catering to a diverse audience of adults and children alike, the museum’s public programming goes beyond traditional exhibits and tours. It encompasses an array of lectures and educational programs exploring various aspects of literature, social issues, local architecture, fine art,  science, personal histories, and achievements. 

Furthermore, the museum hosts engaging school tours, welcoming over 3,000 students from PUSD and other local schools, featuring acclaimed programs like the Junior Docent and My Masterpiece initiatives.

Additionally, the museum offers Fényes Mansion tours, inviting visitors to experience the home of a prominent Pasadena family as it was lived a century ago.

Pasadena Museum of History Exclusive Spotlight Tours: The Fenyes Legacy

Embark on an exclusive 90-minute spotlight tour within the 1906 Fenyes Mansion, delving into the lives and achievements of Museum benefactors Eva and Adalbert Fenyes. Eva Fenyes and her second husband, Adalbert, discovered a welcoming community in Pasadena, where they established their home and pursued various interests. The Beaux Arts-style residence, designed by architect Robert D. Farquhar in 1906 and expanded in 1911 by Sylvanus Marston, is a focal point in the Museum’s Starting Anew exhibition. This local landmark, historically significant for housing four generations of the same family, boasts well-preserved original décor, including Oriental rugs, antique furnishings, and a substantial collection of over 100 paintings by renowned local plein air artists. Designated a Pasadena Cultural Heritage Landmark and a Point of Historic Interest by the State of California, the Fenyes Mansion offers a unique glimpse into the cultural and historical fabric of the region.
