About Edwin Mills by Equator

Edwin Mills is an intimate restaurant and bar located in the heart of Old Pasadena.

In 1992 The Equator Coffee House opened at 22 Mills Place. It quickly became the go-to place for both office workers and students. Over time, the Equator Coffe House grew to offer hookah and a full menu and bar.

In 2014 the restaurant was rebranded and remodeled and became Edwin Mills by Equator.

Working in a building that dates back to 1856, Edwin Mills by Equator has grown with the surrounding community but maintains its connection to Old Pasadena, which was essential for the owner and Pasadena local, Teddy B.

With its quality New American menu, welcoming ambiance, and original cocktail selection, Edwin Mills by Equator offers a cultured space for locals and out-of-town visitors.

EDWIN MILLS BY EQUATOR IS ALSO A GALLERY SPACE FOR LOCAL ART

Edwin Mills by Equator offers a tranquil and elegant atmosphere, but it is only complete with the fantastic artwork on display.

Michael Hussar, a talented artist from Southern California, has contributed to the decor with his thought-provoking images that will catch the eye.

It’s no wonder that visitors from far and wide make a point to come in and enjoy his pieces before enjoying a refreshing beverage at the bar. Hussar’s creative talents were honed at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, and you can even acquire one of his original oil paintings through Edwin Mills – ask your server for the details!

Pasadena Now – Edwin Mills by Equator Offers an Eclectic Menu, Reasonable Prices, and a Smart Happy Vibe

Edwin Mills by Equator was mentioned in Pasadena Now. Two summers ago, the author found themselves in Plaza Santa Ana, Madrid, Spain, known for its popularity and vibrant atmosphere. Instead of aimlessly exploring the plaza, they chose to dine at a lively corner cafe. Opting for Beef Bolognese, a specific meat sauce originating from Bologna, Italy, they describe its unique characteristics compared to typical American meat sauce. The author recalls the memories associated with this dish and expresses their fondness for it. They mention being at Edwin Mills by Equator, a favorite eatery in Pasadena, where they have enjoyed other dishes like Crabby Puff and Spicy Tuna Bites. The Bolognese arrived steaming in a bowl, captivating the author’s attention for a while. They also mention their dining partner’s choice, Potato Wrapped Snapper, a creation by Edwin Mills with various accompanying elements. The restaurant’s ambiance, characterized as fun and kitschy, along with friendly service, TVs, and music on weekends, adds to the overall experience. The author expresses their intention to explore more of the menu in the future but acknowledges their current preference for the Bolognese and their appreciation for Edwin Mills.

Old Town Pasadena’s Equator Cafe to Reopen as Gastropub Edwin Mills

The Equator Cafe, a longstanding establishment in Old Town Pasadena, is reopening as Edwin Mills by Equator on January 22. Previously known for its coffee, milkshakes, live music, and local artwork, the venue has been transformed into a gastropub with a full bar serving specialty cocktails and a menu featuring sliders, potato-wrapped snapper, salmon burgers, and other dishes. The interior has been revamped with rustic wooden tables, Edison light bulbs, and a Pasadena mural. The chef, Juan Carlos, has introduced new items like lamb, turkey, and pork sliders, macaroni and cheese with broccoli, crispy tuna tacos, and shepherd’s pie. However, popular dishes like pad Thai (now called Oodles of Noodles) and orange chicken (renamed Sweet Chicken) have been retained. The restaurant will continue to offer dim sum on weekends, happy hour specials, and its current drink offerings. Original artwork by local artist Michael Hussar adorns the walls. Edwin Mills by Equator will also serve coffee cocktails, signature cocktails, and milkshakes.
